The Grand Canyon is known throughout the world for it's amazing geologic landscape, but it is also a place with extensive human history. Native Americans have held strong connections with this landscape for thousands of years and continue to do so today. The first non-indigenous explorers were first drawn to the canyon 145 years ago. Some of the historical figures highlighted in this living history event helped shape and establish the Grand Canyon National Park we see here today.
