Grand Circle Itinerary – Phoenix to Denver 12 Day

Day One: Arrive Phoenix Airport and transfer to Scottsdale Hotel. Evening to enjoy Scottsdale’s shops and galleries.

Day Two: Depart Phoenix/Scottsdale and tour through the Sonoran Desert to Montezuma Castle National Monument.  Walking tour of Monument, then to Sedona red rock country. 

Enjoy a Pink Jeep Tour into the Red Rock backcountry.  Continuing the adventure up scenic Oak Creek Canyon to the Grand Canyon. Enjoy an orientation at the Canyon rim then a stop at the Canyon View Information Plaza.  Check into a Grand Canyon hotel

Day Three: A 23-mile rim tour this morning with stops to learn about the Canyon.  Next a stop will be made on the Navajo Reservation at historic Cameron Trading Post.  A Native American will provide information about the Navajo People. Late afternoon arrive at Lake Powell and check into local hotel.  Enjoy an afternoon cruise on Lake Powell.

Day Four: Tour through the sandstone cliffs of Southern Utah to Zion National Park.  Guided tour provided of Zion Canyon.  Then to Bryce National Park with a guided tour to Inspriation and Bryce Points.  Overnight at one of the Bryce Canyon hotels.

Day Five: Tour through the Dixie National Forest, the new Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and Capitol Reef National Park.  Stop at the Visitor Center then tour through Capitol Reef for photos of the Waterpocket Fold. Overnight in Moab, Utah at one of the local hotels.

Day Six: This morning tour Arches National Park, Moab, Utah and Canyonlands National Park. Travel to Cortez, Colorado and overnight at one of the local hotels.

Day Seven: This morning tour Mesa Verde National Park including the Visitor Center and Spruce Tree House Cliff Dwelling. Late afternoon travel to Durango, Colorado to spend the night.

Day Eight: This morning board the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and travel back in history.  Travel Animas River Canyon to Silverton. Your guide will meet you in Silverton, Colorado. Tour over the “Million Dollar” highway to Ouray, Colorado.  Enjoy the natural hot springs at Ouray.  Spend the night in Ouray, Colorado.

Day Nine: This morning tour the San Juan Mountains to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.  Later travel over the Continental Divide to the Royal Gorge.  Walk across the Royal Gorge Bridge and take an optional trip to the bottom.  Overnight in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Day Ten: This morning tour the Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds or take an optional cog railway trip to the top of Pikes Peak.  Later tour to Denver to spend the night.

Day Eleven: This morning enjoy a Denver City tour; a stop will be made at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.  Afternoon free to shop or just relax at the hotel.

Day Twelve: Today tour Rocky Mountain National Park.  Travel past the town of Golden, Colorado, home of Coors Beer, up Clear Creek Canyon to Berthoud Pass. Tour Winter Park Ski area to the quaint mountain town of Grand Lake. Later enter Rocky Mountain National Park and drive over Trail Ridge Road. Travel over the Continental Divide through Rocky Mountain National Park, stop in Estes Park on the return to Denver. *The tour into Rocky Mountain National Park is only available June 1st thru September 30th due to high elevation snow conditions.

This itinerary may be reversed with Day One beginning in Denver, Colorado and Day Twelve ending in Phoenix.

Additions of hiking, mountain biking, jeeping, scenic helicopter flights, horseback riding, river rafting (both smooth and white water), Native American experiences may be added to some of the days to make the itinerary more adventurous.  Only your imagination will be your limitation.
