Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad | The Grand Circle Association

The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is a narrow gauge, steam-powered scenic railroad. Built in 1880, the track between Antonito and Chama was part of the San Juan Extension of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. Its path through steep passes and deep gorges is the stuff of adventure novels and was an engineering feat at the time.

Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad | The Grand Circle Association

Step back in time with a ride behind a coal-fired, steam-powered vintage locomotive through the magnificent mountains of southwest Colorado. Durango was founded by the Denver & Rio Grande Railway in 1879. The railroad arrived in Durango on August 5, 1881 and construction on the line to Silverton began in the fall of the same year.
