Below is text from a letter received by Cathy McKeever, Aramark Director, Sales & Marketing. (Aramark manages Mesa Verde Far View Lodge, and ownes Lake Powell Resorts and Marinas and other properties.)

Dear Cathy,

It’s our pleasure to inform you that Mese Verde has earned the Sunset Travel Award in the category Best Cultural Attraction.

At Sunset we are always on the hunt for great experiences and venues for our travel-hungry Western readers to visit. This year we reached beyond our staff to a stellar lineup of noted travel professionals and asked them to help us uncover a five-star list of “bests.” We started with nearly 200 entrants, who hailed from all 13 Western states and British Columbia. Our advisory panelists volunteered two days of their time to designate winners in 20 juried categories. After that, our team of editors combed the West to select winners in seven other categories. And Sunset readers had the last word on our final award.

We are thrilled to be able to recognize your accomplishments in this competitive arena, and we thank you for joining with us in this first year. On Thursday, we will be sending you a specially prepared “Winner Toolkit” to help you spread the word about your Sunset Travel Award. And of course we will be shouting your name all over the place — in print in the June issue (on newsstands this week), in our widely distributed email newsletters, on Sunset.com (May 22), and to our fans in social media.

Thank you again for your participation in our first awards — and congratulations! Look for a package this summer with your award (it’s being made right now).

Sincerely,
Peggy Northrop
