Four Corners School of Outdoor Education will host a number of summer camps and river trips offering youth a fun adventure. Local youth are eligible for scholarships to cover the entire cost of the trip. Trips are available for youth age 12-18 and require the ability to hike up to 2 miles, camp, and enjoy group-learning activities.

This  June 27-30, 2017, Four Corners School will run the 9thannual  Earth, Water, Sky Summer Science Camp. The three-day trip will be an opportunity for youth to learn from geologists, astronomers, and adventurers. During the trip, youth will raft the San Juan River from Sand Island to Mexican Hat, an inspirational and awe-inspiring setting for learning about the geologic, astronomical, and cultural history of the area. Activities on the trip include fossil interpretation, hands-on understanding of geologic time, building clay models of a limestone canyon, and constructing a “natural” stream table model of the San Juan River on a beach. At night, students will learn about stars, planets, and constellations. They will also have the chance to look through a powerful telescope at the stars.

Art and Science on the San Juan River Summer Camp  will run  June 21-24, 2017. Join artist and art instructor Kate Nickols along with Four Corners School staff for a creative journey down the San Juan River. Along the way, we will explore ancient Puebloan archeological sites, soak up the beauty of the canyons, and capture the glory of the canyon through artistic expression.

Our  Youth Backpacking  will take place in the Abajo Mountains near Monticello on  August 6-12  andAugust  13-19, 2017. Backpack through our favorite Local Mountain and vistas overlooking Canyonlands National Park and Cedar Mesa. We will visit rock art panels left hundreds of years ago by the Ancestral Puebloan people, hike 4-6 miles per day with backpacks, and retire each night to a cozy tent under a brilliant sky full of stars.
