The Vancouver Outdoor & Travel Show was a coop with Grand Circle to attend BC’s largest showcase of outdoor gear and adventure travel experiences. There were big names for adventure travel like G Adventures, Contiki Travel, Explore and Get Out There Travel. Over 60 adventure presentations with travel professional speakers to lure the attendee. The second biggest interest was on cycling with equal amount of big names in the cycling world. There were 250 + exhibitors offering the latest in camping gear, paddle sports, outdoor gear & clothing, scuba diving and the second half being ultimate travel destinations. The Grand Circle is of great interest to the people of BC, many attendees have already traveled to some part of the circle.

Things we found out

  • They can book cheap fares out of Vancouver to Las Vegas

  • Want itineraries form all the major hubs around the circle, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Denver, Albuquerque and Phoenix

  • They want to come in the shoulder season because it is so nice there in the summer months

  • They love the desert scenery, the archeological sites, cycling, hiking and old steam trains

  • We needed more of the destination & attraction members brochures

  • The dollar rate is some what a deterrent but the cost of gas in the US off sets that

The attendance was an approximate 15,000 people in two days. We gave out 490 GC magazines, 50 Mesa Verde magazines, 67 Durango Travel Planners. I would recommend GC continue to commit to this show. Utah was also in attendance.
